Many Mac users are recently reporting an issue with their printer connection. What happens is they see an error message 'The printer is not connected' on their Mac computer, and they can't use their printer.
Printers appear offline when an issue prevents them from printing and communicating with the computer. In most cases, basic troubleshooting steps can resolve offline printer notifications. On a Mac, an offline printer is indicated by an exclamation mark inside of a triangle. The data is in the same section. I can certainly http to many of these printers, and manually enter the mac address into my tables. When I did that for Office Printer 10, the MAC address matched one from one of the mac address table from the switches, so I know it connected to Closet 1, Switch 5, port 29. On Printer Properties screen, you should find the Printer IP Address in 'Location' section of the General tab. If you cannot find Printer IP Address in General tab, click on the Ports Tab and select the Port that has the check mark. Widen the first column (Port) to see if the IP Address is listed. There may be temporary issues with your printer so you can't connect it to your Mac computer. And you should try power resetting (a more thorough way to restart) your printer to see if this fixes your issue. To do so: While your printer is ON, disconnect the power cable from your printer. Disconnect all the other cables connected to your printer. At first, turn on the printer and then click on the 'Apple' logo in your Mac OS. And then click on the option called 'System Preferences'. After that, choose the 'Print & Fax' option in the 'System Preferences' box. In the following box, click on the 'Add' icon on the bottom.

When adding a network printer to your Apple computer, you will have to do so via the IP address instead of the printer's network name. Please follow these instructions to locate the IP address of the printer you are attempting to add to your computer.
- Click on the 'Spotlight' icon in the top menu bar (far right)
- Type 'Network Utility' in the search field and press 'Enter'.
Mac Address Printer
- Click to select the Lookup tab at the top. Enter the printer's network name in the field below - you will need to add .printer.wfu.edu to the end of the network name. For example, ZSR-207-XRX will need to be entered as ZSR-207-XRX.printer.wfu.edu. Click Lookup and the IP address will be displayed in the white box below
You will then use that IP address to add the printer to your Apple computer. If you need any assistance with this process, please contact the Service Desk at 336-758-4357 or Submit a Ticket. Download microsoft word 2013 for mac.
